Chair - East Coast College

Business / Organisation Name: Association of Colleges
Business / Organisation Sector: Private
Business / Organisation Type: Association
Role Title: Chair
Remuneration: Expenses only

Role Description

Chair, plus Governor requirements in HR, Finance and Higher Education

East Coast College is a well-established further education college based in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. It is financially stable with an Ofsted rating of ‘good’ and on the journey to reach outstanding

The College offers fantastic breadth and depth of subjects at all levels with technical and professional training to degree level in partnership with the University of Suffolk and excellent progression opportunities

The College offers specialist Maritime, Energy and offshore training centres and has become a centre of excellence for energy, engineering and offshore skills training.

We are now seeking a new Chair who is both strategic and influential and will lead us on the next part of our journey. We also require new Governors to complement the skills within our Board and particularly welcome expressions of interest from people with a strong background in HR, Finance (fully qualified Accountant), Higher Education and Media/Marketing.

You may not have thought about a role like this before but your experience (alongside our other Board members) can help us shape the future of our college. You must have experience of working strategically, and have a real passion for making a difference as well as an affinity with the local and regional area.

You are not required to have Governor experience as you will benefit from a well-supported induction and training programme. All we need is your experience and time! In return you will work with a great team of people and gain insight into a range of strategic college aspects as well as make a positive impact on the local community and wider economy.

We are keen to attract people from different backgrounds with varied experience and skills . We also wish to increase participation of women and ethnic minorities on the Board.
