The University of Westminster is a diverse and dynamic international institution situated in the heart of London with around 20,000 students from 165 different nations. The University has its origins as Britain’s first polytechnic, founded in 1838. Today we remain committed to promoting equality and embracing diversity and we are rebuilding a distinctive reputation founded on strong research and links with professional practice. We are closely involved in the business, professional and academic life of London and overseas.
The University’s Court of Governors is the institution’s governing body. It is ultimately responsible for the effective conduct of the activities of the University, including strategic development, educational character and mission, and financial health.
The members of the Court of Governors are the trustees of the charity.
The University is seeking to appoint up to six independent governors to the Court to fill vacancies arising from members completing their term of office. Our new members will have a strong personal commitment to the values, aims and objectives of the University. You will act in the best interests of the University by scrutinising Court papers, leading discussions, and focusing on key issues relevant to the area of the University’s work in which you have special expertise. You will demonstrate integrity, strategic vision, sound and independent judgement, and an ability to think creatively and work effectively as a member of a team. The Court welcomes applications from individuals with skills and expertise in finance, human resources and audit in particular and seeks to enhance diversity in the Court membership.
The appointment is for three years in the first instance and is unremunerated.
