The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to make a key appointment of a new non-executive Chair

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and specialist services to over 350,000 people in the London Boroughs of Hillingdon, Ealing and Harrow as well as to populations in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. A Foundation Trust since 2011, we have an income of nearly £200m and employ over 2,700 people providing high quality care from the Hillingdon Hospital and our Mount Vernon Treatment Centre.

We are a high performing Trust with significant investments to improve services and with a secure future as a major acute hospital in North West London as part of the ‘Shaping a Healthier Future’ Programme. Nonetheless, we face some challenges over the next few years with ambitious cost improvement plans, and a tight financial picture until the growth predicted as part of the ‘Shaping a Healthier Future’ programme is realised. We are now looking to make a key appointment of a new non-executive Chair to lead our unitary Board.

You will:

  • Chair and lead the Board of Directors ensuring all members make a full contribution and that the Board focuses on the strategic direction of the Trust whilst meeting the requirements of our regulator and our commitments to patients, commissioners and our staff;
  • Chair the Council of Governors, ensuring local communities and stakeholders have input into the decision making processes of the Trust;
  • Be an ambassador for the Trust, developing and maintaining effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders at local, regional and national levels.

We are seeking an experienced and resilient leader who brings substantial Board level experience from within a complex, challenging and dynamic environment. You will have an extensive track record of delivering high performance in uncertain times and will have commercial astuteness with a high degree of political acumen. It goes without saying that you will bring the interpersonal, communication and influencing skills which a role at this level demands.
