Counselling Foundation - Trustee opportunities

A61428 The Counselling FoundationThe Counselling Foundation is a successful and growing charity working in the mental health arena. We operate across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire offering counselling therapies to clients who either come to us direct or who are referred to us by the NHS as one of a small number of their accredited external partners in our region.

For those clients who come to us direct we offer counselling at fee levels designed to provide access for those who otherwise could not afford it. We also offer accredited training in counselling ranging from Foundation Certificate to Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels to students wishing to develop careers or broaden their knowledge and skills in mental health and psychological therapy theory and practice.

During the last year, we provided over 21,000 counselling sessions to our direct and NHS clients and we had just under 200 students in training. We are entirely self-funding based on the combined incomes from our various activities. As such we have both the potential and the ambition to develop our range of services into new areas and to become a true influencer in mental health at a time when it is climbing the public and political agendas. In order to deliver on that ambition, we now want to add to the skills and experience within our trustee group. We are seeking:

  • A new trustee with experience at a senior level in management in either the NHS or private healthcare. The purpose of adding this expertise will be to enhance our working relationships with our various NHS partners and to help us broaden our offering to them as a preferred and valued external provider.
  • A new trustee with experience in the arena of public relations/marketing and developing organisational profile and influence. This person might also have expertise in the area of seeking sponsorship and/or financial support for specific initiatives. Ideally this experience will have been gained in a setting with similarities to ours but that is not a necessity.

These are unremunerated positions but they offer the chance for anyone attracted by what we do to become a very direct part in building an exciting and engaging future with an organisation which has many unique features and which has real capability at a time when it is now poised for real change and growth. We would very much welcome your interest.
