Living and working in the north east allows for an excellent quality of life! Housing is at the top of many people’s priorities and with some of the lowest house prices in England, you certainly get a lot more home for your money.
The diverse geographical nature of the region means you can be in the countryside in less than ten minutes from all of our major towns and cities. We have more castles per square metre of land than anywhere else in England, as well as blue flag beaches on our doorstep and two stunning world heritage sites - Durham Castle and Cathedral and Hadrian’s Wall.
We have several booming cultural hubs offering a unique insight into England’s artistic identity. Not forgetting the vibrant sports scene, the spectator sports of football, basketball and rugby are firmly rooted here with Newcastle FC and Sunderland FC, a premiership rugby side, Newcastle Falcons, and British Basketball League team Newcastle Eagles.
Help to influence, shape and drive the future of healthcare within your community

County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust serves 600,000 people living in County Durham and the surrounding areas. The Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute and community based services across two acute hospitals, community hospitals and 80 community bases. Already a high performing Trust, we are investing in improvements in facilities and service developments, along integrated pathways focusing on patients’ outcomes and experiences. We are looking to strengthen our non-executive team with the appointment of an exceptional candidate.
If you have the temperament, ability and experience to work at board level, and can offer a breadth of relevant skills and experience, we can offer an excellent opportunity to use your talents to make a positive difference to the lives of people in your community. You will need to have the credibility to constructively challenge senior managers and be able work collaboratively within and beyond the Trust to help develop and deliver our strategic plans.
